Yay a new post! How is the summer treating you?!? Can you believe it’s already August? August always makes me sad because it means summer is nearly over, but I’m going to stay positive, and enjoy the warm weather while it last. Plus I’m posting from my new MacBook Pro, so I really can’t complain!!
And enjoy the warm weather I did this weekend. On Sunday Ryan and I went on a nice 2.5 hour bike ride uptown, around Central Park, and back down, lots of fun and I couldn’t believe how quickly the time passed. We then picked up some groceries for an impromptu dinner with a friend who was in the city for the weekend.
For an appetizer I made beet, watermelon, mozzarella, and basal skewers with coffee balsamic vinaigrette, olive oil, and sea salt sprinkled on top.
This was served along a bourbon cocktail-made with bourbon, ginger syrup from the last post, cayenne pepper, and a little negro modelo to finish it off.
For the main course it was a summer chicken salad with roasted chicken, fava beans, mushrooms, red onions, green peppers, maple cured bacon, and homemade croutons.
All enjoyed in our outdoor courtyard.
The wind was quite something so we moved back to the apartment for dessert-birthday cake from the momofuku milk bar.
Umm, that was some seriously awesome cake!
We finished the night with several rounds of bananagrams. A great to end the weekend :).
Have a great week,
